Vorteile von einem Linux Server gegenüber Windows (Webhosting)

Eine Webhosting brauchen wir für unsere Sport Verein. Egal ob es ein Webhoster-Paket, oder Root-Server oder Managed Virtuell ist. Drauf wird eine interaktive Community laufen. Ich kann zwischen Linux und Windows nicht entscheiden. Laut Hosting Blogs sind Mehrheit auf Linux Seite. Auch ein paar Forum Diskussionen habe ich durchgelesen.

Linux hat meistens PHP/Python als Scriptsprache, Mysql/Postgresql als Database Server und Apache als Webserver. Java und Ruby werden auch häufig auf Linux verwendet.

Windows hat meistens .NET IIS als Hintergrundtechnologie, Microsoft SQL Server + Access als Datenbank und ASP als Skriptsprache.

Als Webserver ist Apache mit 66% Marktführer. PHP und Mysql sind auch in deren Bereiche Marktführer.
