Ihr liegt beide falsch. Jeder Computer in einem Netzwerk hat sowohl eine IP- als auch eine MAC-Adresse. Die MAC Adresse besteht aus 48 Bits (6 Bytes) und dient zur Identifikation der Netzwerkadapters. Die ersten 24 Bits sind wird als Herstellungkennung bezeichnet. Die MAC Adresse ist statisch und herstelleranhängig. Das bedeutet, dass die MAC Adresse sich nicht ändert.

Die IP Adresse besteht aus besteht aus 32 (IPv4) oder 128 Bits (IPv6) und ist in der regel nicht statisch, sondern dynamisch. Sie wird von einem Provider, ISP (T-Online, Vodafone, Alice...) automatisch vergeben. Mit einer gültigen IP Adresse kann man erst ins Internet. Die IP Adresse kann man mit dem Wohnort von einer Person vergleichen.

Einer IP Adresse kann man einem Wohnort zuordnen, einer MAC Adresse nicht, das ist ein Unterschied.
